Meet Mario Rivera

Connected to the Community

Puerto Rican native Mario Rivera’s interest in banking began at just 15 years old during a visit to a local bank branch. What started as curiosity eventually became a career built around helping individuals and businesses achieve their financial goals. Today, Mario has more than 20 years of experience across nearly every facet of banking — from loan servicing and branch management to business banking.

Since joining Marine in August 2025 as a Commercial Loan Officer, Mario has enjoyed the credit union’s strong connection to the community. Whether attending local events, networking with business leaders, or helping entrepreneurs find tailored banking solutions, he values the opportunity to build meaningful relationships that contribute to the growth of the local economy. His philosophy is simple: take the time to truly understand clients, both personally and professionally, so recommendations are customized to their unique needs rather than driven by a sales agenda.

Mario and his wife, Carissa, have been married for 23 years and have called St. Lucie County home since relocating from Puerto Rico in 2005. Together with their two children, Mario III and Maia, the family enjoys traveling and experiencing different cultures. Recent adventures have included a long-awaited anniversary trip to Peru, a family visit to Paris, and a road trip through southern Spain.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Mario grew up playing basketball in Puerto Rico and was once invited to practice with the youth national team. Today, he remains an avid fan of the Miami Heat, Duke Blue Devils men's basketball, New England Patriots, Virginia Tech Hokies football, and Manchester City F.C. — and when he’s not cheering from the sidelines, chances are he’s on the pickleball court enjoying what he calls his “new obsession.”
